Celebrate your special occasion by giving back to those in need with Help & Feed, powered by Sai Dham Food Bank. Whether it’s a birthday, anniversary, or another milestone, you can make a meaningful impact on your community. Invite friends and family to join you in a day of volunteering, followed by a donation drive, or choose to make a collective gift in lieu of presents.
Step 1
Your celebration directly helps individuals and families struggling with food insecurity in your community.
By volunteering or donating, you’re creating a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and families who rely on the food bank for nourishment.
Instead of receiving material gifts, you and your guests will share an experience that brings joy and fulfillment by giving back to others.
Step 2
One of the most impactful ways to celebrate is by volunteering together. Encourage your friends and family to come together and donate their time to Sai Dham Food Bank.
Reach out to the food bank to confirm the availability of volunteering opportunities on your chosen date. Ask about specific volunteer roles (e.g., sorting food, packing boxes, delivering food) and whether there are any special guidelines or requirements.
Determine the best time for you and your guests to volunteer. Depending on the food bank’s schedule, you may need to volunteer during regular hours or on a weekend.
Send out an invitation to your friends, family, or colleagues to join you. Highlight the meaningful nature of the activity and how it’s a chance to give back to the community.
Be clear about the logistics—location, time, what to bring, and how long the volunteering activity will last. Encourage guests to wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes if necessary.
Step 3
In addition to volunteering, you can set up a donation drive where your friends and family contribute much-needed items to for Sai Dham Food Bank.
Work with Sai Dham Food Bank to identify the most needed items. These may include non-perishable foods, hygiene products, baby supplies, and cooking essentials. Be sure to provide your guests with a list of what to bring.
Set up collection bins or boxes at your celebration location (e.g., at home, a restaurant, or an event venue). If you’re hosting a party or gathering, include a sign or message on the bins that encourages guests to bring donations instead of gifts.
If your celebration is virtual, provide guests with the option to donate online or contribute to a digital fundraiser. Create a donation link or set up a crowdfunding page on platforms like GoFundMe or Facebook Fundraisers, making it easy for friends to donate.
If you're hosting an in-person event, consider dedicating a portion of the event to showing your appreciation for those who donated. For e.g., at a birthday party, you could thank the guests for their generosity, highlight how much was collected, and share the impact their donations will have.
Step 4
Once the event is over, be sure to thank everyone who participated in the volunteering day or donation drive.
We are on a mission to ensure that no community member goes to bed hungry. For over a decade, we have served seniors, the specially-abled, children, the homeless, and international students in 26 GTHA cities. Our commitment to ending food insecurity is unwavering.
