Accountant

Job Description

The Accountant at SD is responsible for overseeing financial activities, ensuring accurate record-keeping, and providing support in budgeting, forecasting, internal audit, daily bookkeeping, and payroll management. The ideal candidate should possess strong knowledge of non-profit organization operations and corporate laws.

Key Responsibilities:

      1. Budgeting: Develop and monitor budgets in collaboration with management to ensure financial goals are met.
      2. Forecasting: Analyze financial data to provide accurate forecasts and projections for future financial performance.
      3. Internal Audit: Conduct regular internal audits to ensure compliance with financial regulations and identify areas for improvement.
      4. Daily Bookkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.
      5. Payroll Management: Process payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and employee benefits.
      6. Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and variance analyses to provide insights into the organization’s financial health.
      7. Reconciliation.- Demonstrate proficiency in bank reconciliation, including comparing financial records, identifying discrepancies, investigating errors, adjusting balances, and ensuring accuracy between bank statements and accounting records.
    1. Skills and Soft Skills
      • Must have 1 Year experience/competencies in the Foundation’s area 
      • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills, including effective planning and management of multiple projects.
      • Ability to problem-solve, use critical assessment, and act strategically, and creatively.
      • Organized with proven ability to manage multiple tasks at a time.
      • Proficiency with computer software applications.
      • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
      • Demonstrated integrity, professional maturity, discretion, judgment, and decisiveness.
      • Strong presentation and communication skills.
      • Strong interpersonal relationship-building skills and the capacity to build consensus and maintain positive relationships with various stakeholders.
      • Experience of  using MS Office (specially MS Excel)

Social Media Specialist

Key Responsibilities:

  • Craft, curate, and oversee captivating content meant for our food bank’s social media handles, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
  • Develop a content calendar that ensures a steady stream of relevant posts at all times.
  • Engage and respond to comments, messages, and interactions across platforms, fostering a genuine connection with our followers.
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the team to gather insights on upcoming events, success stories, and campaigns for spotlighting on social media.
  • Leverage analytical tools to monitor the performance of posted content, sharing regular reports and insights to guide our content strategy.
  • Stay in the loop with the latest trends, emerging platforms, and best practices in social media to keep our online presence fresh and impactful.
  • Help produce visual content like images, videos, and graphics to elevate the visual appeal of our posts.
  • Team up with social media influencers, allies, and backers to extend our reach and make a bigger difference.
  • Participate actively in brainstorming sessions aimed at generating creative ideas for effective social media campaigns.

Qualifications:

  • Genuine enthusiasm for our food bank’s mission and a sincere desire to contribute positively to the community.
  • Proven track record of managing personal or organizational social media accounts across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube and Tiktok.
  • Adept at written communication, with the ability to adapt tone and style to cater to different platforms and audiences.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and capability to interpret data to refine content strategies.
  • Bonus points for proficiency in tools used for graphic design or photo editing.
  • Independent and self-motivated, with a knack for both solo work and seamless teamwork.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of juggling multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Familiarity with matters of food insecurity and related social justice topics is advantageous.
  • While prior involvement with volunteer work or non-profits is a plus, it’s not a strict requirement.
