FAQS

We serve non-perishable as well as perishable food items (with a diversity of vegan, kosher meals, non-vegetarian and other cultural preferences) directly to people’s door-step.

To get started as a volunteer, you will need to complete the volunteer registration form and attend an orientation.

Orientations are typically hosted bi-weekly on Saturday’s. They take place at our warehouse located at 31 Steinway Blvd, Etobicoke, ON M9W 6N3

We recommend you bring gloves, mask, water and a comfortable pair of shoes (closed-toe shoes recommended) for each shift.

Warehouse hours of operation are between 11:00 AM- 5:00 PM seven days a week. Operations may begin earlier or end later depending on new initiatives.

There is no minimum commitment. As a volunteer, you are welcome to contribute as many hours as is feasible for you.

Volunteers are required to sign in at the beginning of each shift. Hours are logged by the management team. A letter will be provided upon request. If you require documents to be completed from your institution, please bring it with you and a leader will complete it.

Due to the nature of our mandate, Sai Dham Food Bank is deemed essential by the Ontario government. We observe all public health guidelines to maintain a safe environment for our team.

We do not have a minimum age requirement for volunteers. Volunteers under the age of 18 will require express written consent from a parent or guardian in order to contribute.

If you require an accommodation, please discuss it with your Orientation Lead on your first day.

All volunteers are required to complete the volunteer registration form . Once complete they will attend a scheduled orientation to get started.

Volunteer hours for co-op or practicums are available for both semesters – September to December and January to April. Please email a resume to Info@SaiDhamFoodBank.com with your name, contact information, program/institution. An interview will be conducted in order to place candidates.
